Loradon Beta, Take 2

Loradon 3.0 has been in developement for quite awhile, and we've been silent as of late. In recent months, we have been balancing the initial game with the various spells and abilities for the complex class system created. The game is still in what can be considered very early developement as far as content, yet the major problems arise on a balancing point of view. In order to balance the systems this game has and will have to offer, we have decided to reopen the beta for an indefinite amount of time (subject to change at any time). Read the rules below if interested.

Rules
-Be active on IRC, show an interest in helping the beta but do not extend to annoyance.
-Send an email to invisible@ifthensoftware.net with the following information, failing in any way to follow them will result in a No-Go for your Beta allowance.
-Screen name (both on IRC and Loradon 2.1)
-Reason(s) why you can be helpful.
-Confirming that you accept that you are not allowed to release information of any kind on the general web or public in any form.

People will be accepted and removed based on activeness on IRC and helpfulness with the game in the form of playing the demos and offering feedback.

5th Loradon 3.0 Screenshot Release

In the below screenshot, you'll notice a few things, first a health bar for your target along the top, and below that any debuffs on them. Then in the lower right corner you'll notice the quest tracker, to keep track of the quests you have, up to three quests at a time.

Starting at some unknown time in Febuary of 2007, we will be hosting a Loradon 3.0 Beta. It will consist of a few select players getting to test the game early for: bugs, exploits, imbalances, and overall fun. The question is, how do you get picked.

To get picked for the beta, you must first either email me at: mkucoder@gmail.com (do not contact me in any other way with that) or PM me on the forums here. You must PM me the name you play on Loradon 2.1 with the most and what you sign into IRC and the forums with. You must also tell me your computer specs (the parts and the OS you use).

That is just the first requirement, we must also see you on IRC a lot, the more often, the better. Your chances of be accepted are based on how often we can talk to you.

Once you have been accepted to the beta, you need to remain active, supply us with ideas and opinions to improve the game, report bugs and exploits. If we do not believe you to be doing a good job at testing, your position shall be taken away.

So what are the rewards for actually doing a good job? The knowledge that you have helped the game and three months of free Premium Membership once we release the game.

Loradon Online 3.0 Screenshots

The Loradon team has released five new screenshots of Loradon 3.0! It shows off the inventory window (on the right) and the NPC trade window (left). Items being sold by NPCs are split into categories as can be seen (Armor/Armor/Weapons). You can also see how much money you can sell the item for (only shown when you hold your mouse over an item while trading with an NPC).

Loradon Relocation

Due to our ex-admin Zero, Loradon has been relocated to the ifthensoftware.net web server. Zero has been declared to not be an admin of this team due to actions taken against it. The website can be found at http://www.ifthensoftware.net/loradon_online/

Loradon will be a little whacked for a while basically due to dependencies with the loradon.com server. Also the posts were lost and are currently stored in a hidden spot all mixed up. If for any reason there is something you need back in the forums something might be able to be arranged.

News (Good and Bad)

Good news - Loradon now has a completely redesigned PvP system. For a long time mages completely dominated in PvP, and we were aware of this being an unfair advantage. We have implemented a system that we call the "PK Triangle". Mages now have an advantage over melee characters, melee characters have an advantage over archers, and archers have an advantage over mages. We believe this new balanced system will make PvP even for all players, and that it will allow pking to be a more enjoyable experience.

Bad news- Recently a bug was exploited that allowed gold to be duplicated. Many characters were deleted or punished because of this. The server has been down while we spent the whole day reading through logs and determining who should be punished. Please do not complain about our choices, as we did not punish anyone without just cause and mercy. We hope this will be a lesson.

REMEMBER- If you find a bug, REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY by contacting a GM or Mod in-game, on irc, or by e-mail.

P.S. Progress on 3.0 is going smoothly, but would go a lot faster if we didn't have to spend whole days finding bug abusers. :)

Recently, we've had some nasty problems. We've had people vandalize our forums, and break into our site. The forums are fixed, and updated, but they will remain down for awhile. The game isn't up either, and this is because of recurring database access issues. We're sorry you haven't been able to play Loradon much lately. These situations will be worked out, though.

First of All I would like to wish everyone in Loradon a Happy New Year and hope you had a joyful Christmas. We've been busy around the holidays working hard to keep the game up and running with the few major bugs happening but I thought I'd let you all in on an interesting task I am currently working on. It won't be done for quite some time but it's comming so keep your boots on :) I am coding a PHP system for a Player Control Panel on the site and it's comming along fantastically. Basically what you will be able to do is change passwords, delete accounts, reset your location if you get stuck and also perhaps change character names. All options are still uncertain, I am coding them for the fun of it (a few extras not mentioned) but don't expect all of them to be there as I have to talk it over with the other dev's first before release to see if it would be possible to feature these on the full finished control panel. Keep your eyes peeled for updates! Thanks for gaming with us into this new year and I hope you enjoy 2005 as much as we are!

We now have a system where players can upload there screen shots, vote on them, and comment on them. Players can also upload fan art and edited screen shots. Any non Loradon images submitted will be denied submission. The screen shots section is powered by the forums so you do not need to sign up if your all ready a member.

Game Is Up And Signups Fixed

Well, after countless hours of testing and debugging the game is up and running. The new system is running as well. Signups are back online, before there was an error with password encryption but it is all fixed up now. Head over HERE to create an account. As mentioned it is also on the Account page. Please also note, we wiped the characters clean and reverted them back to before the new system was added, so anything you may have gotten in the last few days will not be on your accounts, also, if you created an account AFTER the new system was intact you will have to create it once again. PLEASE NOTE **THIS ONLY APPLIES IF YOU CREATED AN ACCOUNT WHEN THE NEW SYSTEM WAS UP, NONE OF THE ACCOUNTS CREATED BEFORE THE NEW SYSTEM WAS UP HAVE BEEN EFFECTED!** Sorry for any inconvience this may have caused. New System Is Ready

The new system is ready for players now. If you want to create a new account, you can now do so by clicking here (there's also a link for it on the accounts page). All accounts from the old system were ported to the new system so hopefully there won't be any trouble for people trying to log in. Also, you WILL NEED to download the new setup to play the game. The login server host has changed, so the updater was broke. Changes were made to the updater though, so in the future these kind of changes wont require a re-install.

Web Server Changes

We are currently transfering from one web server to another and redoing our web site at the same time. Our site is on the new server but it is currently not finished. We hope to finish the site sometime this weekend. We did put the important site features up such as the downloads section, the irc chat, and the forums. New System Testing

The new system is now in testing. This update involves massive core updates which should make the game run much better and get some well needed feature updates. However its still in strict testing to make sure everything is running correctly so the servers may be taken down often the next few days while we test this system out. Stat Updates

Stats that use training credits have been reset to base on all characters. Base is the default stat for your skill. Do not worry about loosing them for good. You should have all your training credits for the current level you are. Simply goto a training center and use your credits to get your stats back. This is to fix stat errors in the past that gave players extra or less stats then what they should have.

The installer in the downloads section has been updated. Its now version 2.0c (the latest) so there is no need to download a patch off the site before playing. Not only that the download size has been improved so its a small 440 KB download. If you still need to patch to 2.0c you can just use the installer and it will patch your 2.0b client.

Mages and Magic

Recent Downtimes

Some of you may noticed a lot of downtimes this past week. These should be cleared up now. We feel bad so these recent updates are a gift to you. We have added mining, smithing, top players, new maps, new monsters, and much more over the past few weeks. Thats not all because we have a lot more updates around the corner such as thieving, magic, new items, more new maps and mobs.

Patch 2.0b Released

A manual patch is in the downloads section. Run it and and install it. This fixes a handful of updater errors. The setup.zip is updated so there is no need to install the patch if you recently installed Loradon.

ActiveX '429' Error Fixed

Some of you have been getting an error message that says theres an ActiveX error. This is because you do not have Direct X or you are running a bad install of DX. To fix this goto our downloads section and find the ActiveX fix download there. Make sure you read its description because those are the instructions for fixing this error properly. A few other solutions are there too incase this doesnt work.

Also some of are having your updater freeze up on you. There is no fix for this yet but one is currently being made.

2.0 Released!

2.0 Now In Testing

The Loradon development team is currently testing 2.0. This means 1.6 is shut down for good. Dont worry, this also means 2.0 is coming really soon. We filled all 25 testing spots. Thanks to those that have signed up. You should be getting emails within the next week.

We are also in the middle of moving our web site to a new web server. There may be a few errors popping up while we move. The site should be running stable very soon.

Private Testing Update

The first 10 testing spots have been filled. 15 more remain. I wont tell who has been accepted to the public. This is so no nontesters will bother them for the 2.0 client. To those that have been accepted you will be given an email with 2.0 details as soon as all the testers are picked and finalized. This should be done in 1-2 weeks. Development Updates

Sorry for the lack of updates but most of the development time is going into 2.0 so 1.6 wont receive any more updates until 2.0 is released. We dont have a release date yet but its estimated release is 2 - 3 months. The development page is updated and it now shows plans for 2.1 which will contain even more maps, items, monsters, fixes, and other features. Just take note, when version 2.0 is released all the characters will be back at level 1. This should be the last character reset.

New Patch!

Invisible released a patch in the forums but it seems people are still confused. Goto the downloads section and download the file called Loradon Patch. Make sure you place the files in the correct directory. Inside this patch are the loradon.exe and data005.dat fixes. If your having client problems then this is most likely your solution.

Recent Updates
Invisible - 4/12/2004

A lot of the bugs from yesterday are fixed, and you can now walk faster but you will maybe need to keep hitting the refresh key (F5) in order to make sure of where you are. PKing works in the graveyard. It will be added in more maps in the future. The Ant Nest Level2 is partially out. Also, the Easter event should be going on today if everything works out.

We have a big suprise for players! First a big bug update! Log in to feel the difference. Invisible has fixed a bunch of bugs including the walking bug so you can now walk fast again. Monsters also drop a small Easter suprise. So check it out as soon as possible!

Socket Fix

Sorry for the recent downtime. We are working hard on getting the server back online. We are trying to fix certain errors that seem to crash the server. Invisible has been coding a lot lately to improve the networking so hopefully this will be a thing of the past.

Login Issues

Some of you have been having issues logging in. The message shown on this issue is cannot log in because game is still in private testing or it may say you have the wrong version. We are sorry if you get this error. The team is working on a fix which should be ready this weekend.
